Wax Lyrical appoints for store formats

Retailer Wax Lyrical has appointed independent designer Rob Davis-Desmond to create a new store concept after a four-way pitch.

The designer beat competition from rival groups including Four IV and Design Associates to win the appointment. Neither of the rival consultancies was available for comment as Design Week went to press.

Davis-Desmond will work closely with Wax Lyrical’s in-house team to develop a “sensuous” environment for the candle and gift shop chain.

The new look stores will open in Glasgow and Reading in the autumn. Refreshed store formats will be rolled out to a number of Wax Lyrical’s 50 UK stores thereafter. The chain is also expected to unveil a new selection of product ranges to help it compete in the expanding candle market.
