The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has a new corporate identity by Forth Design, now the sole consultancy on its roster.

The identity replaces the previous italicised initials which were “not exactly inspiring”, according to Forth executive director Dirk Douglas. The Gill logo has artificially condensed letter spacing to “combine formality with friendliness”, he adds.

The Edinburgh consultancy has been designing promotional literature for the orchestra since 1994. Graphic Partners and freelance designers were also on the roster until May 1994, when Forth was offered a retainer. “We work on so many diverse schemes under one brand, with one design group their style becomes your style,” says an orchestra spokesman.
