Peter Gill & Associates has created the virtual reality interactive media in the environmentally friendly House for the Future, designed by Jestico + Whiles, which launches this month in Cardiff.

It won the £30 000 project following a four-way pitch.

The house is designed to bring to life the concept of Green future living and will be open to the public at the Museum of Welsh Life in St Fagans, near Cardiff, from the end of March.

It will examine how housing and lifestyles could develop over the next 50 years while promoting awareness of the environment.

Peter Gill & Associates has created touchscreen terminals in every room of the house. An on-screen virtual reality model takes visitors on a tour and provides up-to-date news on construction, the environment and new technology.

The house features all types of multimedia, including video and animation. The next stage will be the launch of website, a virtual visitors book and an on-line question-and-answer forum.

“Our creative concepts are designed to be user-friendly, reflecting the key message of the House for the Future: to teach people about sustainable living,” says managing director Peter Gill.
