Irish architecture and interiors consultancy RKD has designed Independent Newspapers’ state-of-the-art printing plant in Dublin, which opens at the end of March. The plant’s interiors, which are visible from the outside thanks to the use of transparent glass, are painted in a palette of industrial colours including grey, blue and white. A white aerofoil-shaped roof covers the entire press hall, which features lighting designed to further illuminate the presses.
The Guardian Media Group’s Sunday paper, The Observer, has launched a biannual, print design magazine, which looks to bridge the gap between consumer and specialist publications.
