Building design group sets up interiors arm

Building design group Watkins Gray International is setting up a specialist interiors division. Paul Frostick, a former project director at The Thomas Saunders Partnership, will head a team concentrating on commercial interiors.

Frostick, who worked at TTSP for almost 24 years, is an architect and interior designer. “I was fed up with working for someone else,” he says, adding that the attraction of WGI is that it “is international and has a good commercial approach”.

The new division, known as WGI Interiors, will be a London-based limited company operating within the partnership. WGI Interiors will specialise in office interiors and support the architectural division of Watkins Gray.

Frostick confirms that the new division has “already got two jobs” but declines to divulge details of the projects.

Frostick says he is looking to recruit. “I intend to build a design team around me that is based on the cream of what is out there,” he says.

“Some may think I’m shooting at Utopia, but I want it to go back to the way it used to be – fun,” he adds.

A TTSP spokesman was unavailable to comment on Frostick’s departure, but new promotions are believed to include the appointment of Tim Jennings and Keith Warner as directors.
