Transport for London in roster bid

Transport for London has invited consultancies to pitch for inclusion on its design roster and expects to have all groups in place by the end of the year.

‘As a relatively young organisation we are reviewing all of our procurement procedures at the moment. The roster will involve the whole marketing communications package,’ says a Transport for London spokesman.

Appointed consultancies will offer design services for print, Internet and branding.

The authority expects to have a shortlist of consultancies by the end of September. Groups will be invited to pitch in the autumn and the roster will be finalised in the last quarter of the year.

The authority has yet to decide how many consultancies will be included on the roster.

Transport for London has had an interim brand identity since September last year, designed by Identica (DW 22 September). The authority could not say if and when a fresh identity will be designed.

Transport for London is an umbrella organisation responsible for implementing the London Mayor’s transport strategy. It came into effect two months after the Greater London Authority was elected to office in May last year.

Transport for London has inherited responsibility for London Transport activities, including London Buses and the London River Service, as well as other public transport systems like the Docklands Light Railway.

It will assume responsibility for the London Underground on completion of the Public Private Partnership scheme.
