Northcross to brand Halifax Internet arm

Halifax has appointed The Northcross Group to develop a brand identity for its new Internet and telephone banking operation, codenamed Greenfield.co.

Northcross will develop and apply the brand identity in both two and three dimensions, and provide brand identity guidelines.

Greenfield.co managing director Jim Spowart, who was previously managing director of Standard Life Bank says: “Having worked closely with the Northcross team… I am confident that they have the creative ability and experience to take on such an important project.”

Ad agency The Union is also working on the project. Previously, it worked with Spowart on the Standard Life Bank launch. Northcross will also have an input into the website, although The Union will be more involved in the detail.

Halifax is keeping a tight lid on its plans to announce the official name for the new banking service until the New Year. “It’s a strategy issue, rather than a design issue,” says Northcross chief executive John Slater.

All the team members, Greenfield.co, Northcross and The Union are Edinburgh based, which is seen as a boost for design and advertising in Scotland.
