Who’s pulling the Design Council strings?

Have you already seen the package of information sent out by the Design Council in response to a query as to how to apply for a part of the recently announced funds for design research?

If you haven’t, let me suggest that you get hold of a copy.

Whereas all the official statements emanating from John Sorrell downwards suggest a new streamlined body with similarly streamlined decision-taking, the package is bureaucratic in the extreme. Let’s hope it reflects the work and ideas of a civil servant (Evelyn Ryle) rather than a businessman (Andrew Summers) – although the covering letter is in his name!
