Rawsthorn’s successor should build on her efforts

Alice Rawsthorn’s departure from the design museum is a shame. I feel her penchant for Prada dresses and flower arranging did not go down well with the boys on the board. But, if this is so, they have missed a trick. Alice raised the profile of the design museum massively. She mixed high design aesthetics with popular culture, added social comment and promoted a new generation of designers.

Her successor should build on these rich beginings and continue to make brave decisions, which are the lifeblood of great design.
