Portland tees up golf store

Portland Design Associates in London has designed a new retail identity and interiors blueprint for US golf clothing manufacturer Cross Creek.

The new designs will be implemented as both stand-alone stores and shop-in-shop franchises in the Far East and Europe.

Ten outlets will be opened in the Far East this year, with Europe following in 1998.

Portland’s designs aim to reflect the quality of the product and the brand, which has existed since 1935. The designs combine light woods with mahogany and glass. Portland’s brief extended to graphics and the catalogue.

Portland’s managing director Stewart Caddick says: “We have purposely resisted the nostalgic retrospective approach adopted by so many US sports brands.”
