Cami would do even better in Albania

To most people in the design industry, Aziz Cami is known as a founder of The Partners. But a profile piece in the Sunday Times Magazine reveals that Cami’s career could have been radically different.

According to the article, the designer’s grandfather, also named Aziz Cami, was a national hero in Albania who made a failed assassination attempt on King Zog in 1931 and was later assassinated himself in 1943.

The Partners founder’s father Viktor admits that he always had high hopes for his son, having named him after his father. ‘I was always sure we would go back to Albania, and with a name like that he could have been anything! Secretly, I felt he might be president,’ Cami senior reveals.
