Elizabeth Wright is probably the second best known artist on the shortlist.

Her sculptures rework the size and scale of everyday objects, and in this piece, called Mini Escort, Alec Issigonis’ classic small car has been blown up by 30 per cent, which will no doubt cause plenty of double-takes when it is exhibited on the road outside the ICA.

This inflation of size recalls the work of pop artist Claes Oldenburg, who once had plans to install a giant lipstick in nearby Piccadilly Circus.

But, like a sophisticated photocopier, Wright reduces as well as enlarges; her Business and Services Telephone Book has been bought down by 70 per cent and will sit uneasily on a desk at the show.
