New structure at Razorfish

International digital media consultancy Razorfish confirms it has a new internal structure in place following the laying off of 18 employees, including designers, from its London office. The redundancies follow a series of individual performance reviews last month.

According to Razorfish UK managing director Mike Beeston, the catalyst [for the departures] was to maintain profitability following poor third quarter results. “The changes have to be put in the context of changes to the digital marketplace,” he says. “The market has down-turned since April and we have had to put critical projects on hold.”

Beeston says he cannot confirm if Razorfish has lost clients, and says for the sector the consultancy has “not suffered unusually from loss of clients”. He denies the US-headquartered digital media group’s plans for the UK were too ambitious.
