Rick Guest worked on a campaign for Wall in Germany, through ad agency Springer Jacoby International. Guest’s work for the fashion and music industries appears in magazines such as Arena and American Vogue. The project with Springer Jacoby was to shoot Wall’s advertising hoardings for an ad campaign and brochure. Guest was commissioned to shoot these 3m by 4m silver billboards in different city locations around Germany. ‘Doing anything outside of fashion is just a challenge. I approached it the same way as I do fashion,’ says Guest. ‘I don’t have a different head for different disciplines. For six years, I assisted [other photographers] and I can’t hide those influences. I’m a pretty big melting pot. I come at things from different angles the whole time because I get bored very quickly,’ he says. ‘The hoardings are not normally lit externally. I lit them as I would a person, and shot them at different times of the day and night. When you are shooting inanimate objects, there are no surprises, it’s just about aesthetics,’ says Guest.
