Virgin Galactic space rocket does not look futuristic

With regard to Seymour Powell’s designs for Richard Branson’s space rocket, Virgin Galactic (DW 5 October), the cabin and chair designs look a bit ‘now’? You’d be forgiven for thinking you were travelling to Bristol.

But the pod-like seats are simple and ergonomic. Like those in Concorde, the leather chairs suggest you are getting into a very fast object. The diving suits, however, feel very wrong and, with my body shape, I’d rather be put in a canon and shot into space.

Let’s at least hope that all materials used are, at worst, environmentally friendly. Where are the side tables to put the caged canaries?
