John Herbert to create new duty-free brand

John Herbert Partnership has been appointed to develop retail formats, corporate identity and graphics for Sky Connection, a newly formed duty-free retailing group.

The company is headed by Bob Livingstone, formerly chief executive officer of World Duty-Free, the duty-free arm of airport operator BAA. Sky Connection has been awarded the concession to run ten outlets at Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong.

The alcohol and tobacco stores vary in size from 10m2 and 250m2. Initial design work is due to be completed by the end of this month.

No pitch was held for the project. Instead, JHP was approached by Livingstone, who had worked with the consultancy when he was at BAA.
