Apple calls in Fitch for fresh store concepts

Apple is understood to be drawing up potential retail concepts with retail design consultancy Fitch.

The work is thought to be exploratory, looking at ways of developing ideas and concepts for Apple’s store format, and is not expected to be site specific at this stage.

Fitch declines to comment on the plans, while a spokeswoman for Apple says, ‘[the company] does not comment on any future marketing plans’.

Retail design and architecture for Apple’s UK stores was overseen by Gensler, which worked in conjunction with San Francisco design consultancy Eight Inc on fittings and Miami group ISP Design on lighting design.

Apple now has nine stores across the UK, with plans to launch several more. Gensler continues to work on the rollout of the format.

Hey, what about the audio, video & content downloading system, data, telephone, security, satellite, guest counting systems all originally architected by Emmaco Prentiss of San Marino, California?

I agree. After all why change a design system that already works? Maybe there is going to be more focus on the iphone and the developing in store sales point that will push towards the telecomms side. Who knows. We will have to wait and see..
