D&AD Awards list announced

D&AD has revealed the nominees for its Global Awards 2007, with a noteworthy number of selections in graphic design.

D&AD has revealed the nominees for its Global Awards 2007, with a noteworthy number of selections in graphic design. The 292-strong international jury selected 715 entries, with 151 nominated for a D&AD Yellow Pencil.


In the graphic design sector, which includes 11 selections, Japanese consultancy Flame is nominated for its signage and information graphics for Fukutake House and UK group Big Active is selected for its promotional materials and CD covers for singer Beck. In addition, GRP in the UK is picked for its Be Books for NHS Glasgow and Partners.


The only nominee in the branding category is Wolff Olins for the Red charity identity. Packaging design nominees include New Zealand consultancy The Wilderness for 420 Spring Water and Japanese consultancy Hakuhodo for promotional goods for Fuji Television Network.


Environmental design category nominees include Moving Brands for the London College of Fashion end of year show installation and Virgin Atlantic Airways for its Upper Class Clubhouse at London Heathrow Airport.


Product design nominations include the UK’s Concrete Canvas company, for its Concrete Canvas Shelters, and Samsung for its Digital Camera NV Series.


Nominations will be showcased on-line from the end of April at www.dandad.org/awards2007 and at Old Billingsgate, London, during the D&AD Congress Week Two, running from 21-24 May. Yellow and Black Pencil winners will be revealed on 24 May at an awards ceremony.
