WPP has announced steady, like-for-like revenue growth of 5 per cent over the first quarter of 2008.

Its branding, identity, healthcare and specialist communications portfolio (including interactive), showed the strongest growth with constant currency rates up 18 per cent year on year.

The division accounted for 30 per cent of its £1.6bn annual revenues last quarter, and was worth £469m (up from £384m) in the three months to March 2008.

The UK was the only region not to make double-digit revenue growth, though revenues were still up by 5 per cent.

The strongest regions over the period include the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.

Eastern Continental Europe revenues rocketed by 26 per cent.

WPP states it will continue to focus on improving operating profits by 10 to 15 per cent a year, and on growing revenue faster than industry averages.

It has also pledged to continue to grow its creative reputation.
