Entries deadline for Slovenia Design Biennial

Designers have four more days to register entries for Slovenia’s 21st Biennial of Industrial Design exhibition and awards.

Bio is the international exhibition of industrial design, visual communications and graphic design that takes place in central Europe.

An independent international selection committee including textile designer Katja Burger, lecturer in design history Hilde Bouchez and Design For All Italia founder Paolo Favaretto, will be selecting the products – by designers, clients and students – to be showcased.

An international jury will be choosing the award-winners from the designs exhibited.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories, including a Bio gold medal, a Bio quality concept award and a Bio honourable mention.

A Bio spokeswoman says, ‘We are expecting to exhibit 250 designs this year.’

Works will be displayed in the international design collection of the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana and will be published in the Bio 21 catalogue.

Entries for the competition, which has been running since 1963 in alternate years, are open until 11 April.

The 21st Biennial of Industrial Design will open at the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana on 2 October.

Applications are downloadable for the first time, from the exhibition’s website, www.bio.si.
