Foster’s launches Green beer down under

Foster’s has launched an ‘environmentally friendly’ beer in Australia, designed by Landor Associates Australia.

The eco-friendly line, created at the Cascade brewery, is entitled Cascade Green and is described as a ‘100 per cent carbon-offset beer’.

Landor’s designs are being applied to Cascade Green’s visual identity, point-of-sale items including bottles and cans, and secondary packaging.

Work was undertaken by design director Ben Chandler, creative director Nichola Dearn and designer Peter Craggs alongside the brewer’s in-house brand team.

To minimise the product’s carbon footprint, the consultancy’s work uses two-colour biodegradable vegetable inks to reduce the amount of ink used. It has selected materials that are 100 per cent recyclable for the cartons.

The consultancy was appointed to create the Cascade Green identity in June 2007, following working with Foster’s on other projects.

It refreshed the packaging for the Cascade portfolio of brands, which launched in November 2007, and has also worked on the Foster’s Victoria Bitter, Crown and Fiji Premium beer brands.
