LDF invitations postage blunder

The organisers of the London Design Festival are facing minor embarrassment, after issuing hundreds of invitations to its press conference next month without paying sufficient postage.

Recipients have been subjected to a surcharge of more than £1 for each invitation because the LDF failed to pay enough for the size and shape of the envelopes used.

The numbering system on Design Week’s invitations suggests that more than 200 were sent out this week to the 9 May event, at which the LDF will announce its plans for this year’s festival in September.

According to a spokeswoman for the LDF, only a small number of invitations have been affected by the blunder, and any recipients will be fully reimbursed.
