MPs host South West creativity event

MPs including Culture Secretary Andy Burnham, South West minister Ben Bradshaw and schools minister Jim Knight will be meeting representatives from the creative industries later today in London, at an event designed to highlight the creative and economic value of the South West of England.

The reception will be held at the House of Commons, and will feature key figures from the region’s creative industries, including Aardman Animations and the BBC’s Natural History Unit.

Media cluster groups from regions including Plymouth, Cornwall and Bristol will be in attendance alongside senior figures from the South West Regional Development Agency, the UK Film Council and the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.

The networking event is being held by South West Screen, the funding agency for film, television and digital media in South West England.

The Culture Secretary is expected to make a speech paying tribute to the region’s creative industries and their part in the Government’s Creative Britain development strategy.

Sounds interesting, there should be more in the South West. As there is bags of talent. This event should as be inter active as possible with plenty of competitions! A cinema to view local short films and a stage for new bands!
