Rufus Leonard creates mobile phone traffic site

Brand and digital media consultancy Rufus Leonard has created a mobile phone website service for the Highways Agency.

Rufus Leonard will continue to develop the site this year by including Google Maps-based information as part of its service.

The consultancy will also develop the functionality to report incidents on the Highways Agency’s road network

The new website, which launched yesterday, allows live traffic information to be accessed via a mobile phone and other portable devices, as well as from the standard site.

Rufus Leonard won a competitive pitch that began in January 2008.

Chris Willis, a Rufus Leonard client partner, says, ‘We have developed a mobile site that provides users with relevant and timely information on the roads in a way that allows for the best possible communication.’

The Highways Agency is part of the Department for Transport, and is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England.

Mobile phones with Internet access can find the website at www.highways.gov.uk/mobile.
