The Design Week office is still slightly overawed following its first in-the-flesh encounter with an iPad.
After some initial misgivings (‘Can you make phone-calls on it? No, of course not, you’d need to have a massive head…”), the DW team was totally won over by Apple’s new baby. The epiphiny came for most people after flicking through The House at Pooh Corner on the crystal-clear reader app.
Sadly, others desperate to get their sweaty palms on this new piece of technology will have to wait just a little bit longer, after Apple announced that it is postponing the iPad’s international launch by a month due to ‘surprisingly strong’ demand in the US.
Apple says that despite shipping more than 500 000 iPads in the first week in the States, demand is continuing to outstrip supply. Customers in the UK will now have to wait until the end of May to get their hands on one – although pre-orders will be taken from 10 May.
Trust us – it’s worth the wait…
