Inside international interiors festival launches

The World Architecture Festival has launched a new festival and awards programme dedicated to interior design.

The first Inside: World Festival of Interiors will be held in Barcelona in November, alongside the World Architecture Festival.

The Inside exhibition and café space, located at El Centro de Convenciones Internacional de Barcelona, will be designed by London-based graphic consultancy Multistorey and furniture designer Frank.

The Inside awards scheme will see designers pitch against each other in live public presentations to be awarded the prize of World Interior of the Year. Entries will be judged by designers Ilse Crawford, Andre Fu, Ross Lovegrove and Paul Priestman.

Inside award categories will include bars and restaurants, office, culture and civic, health, retail, residential, transport, display, creative re-use and education. The entry period closes on 30 June.

Priestman says, ‘The nature of our industry is changing and we now operate in an increasingly global market. With its inclusion of interiors projects from around the world, Inside gives great insight into interior design practice today.’
