New York design school launches festival

New York-based design institute Parsons The New School for Design has launched a festival that will take place in May.

The festival will feature more than 100 public art and design events across the school’s campus and the rest of New York.

Events will include fine art exhibitions, an arcade of gaming projects by design and technology students at the Sheila C Johnson Design Centre, an exhibition of new furniture concepts by Parsons Product Design students and a large-scale collaboration between New York photographer Milk Studios and the Parsons Photography programme, which will include screenings and projections.

A number of conferences will also be held as part of the festival, on topics such as fashion design, building a green economy and the power of technology to transform the human condition.

Parsons The New School for Design executive dean Joel Towers says, ‘We are opening our doors to the public to showcase the talent found here at Parsons, but also to celebrate the future of art and design.’
