Irish Design Week line-up

Ireland’s Design Week 2007 has just outlined preliminary details of its line-up which will take place in November.

The programme will include: Erik Spiekermann for the Institute of Designers in Ireland; the William H Walsh lecture; Sweetalk featuring Adrian Shaughnessy and James Jarvis of the Institute of Creative Advertising and Design and the Art Director’s Club; the IDEA awards; a multi-discipline design exhibition in The Design Tower, as well as seminars, exhibitions, workshops and talks.

As part of the week-long design festival, nationwide events take place in Cork, Belfast, the Midlands, Donegal, Sligo, Limerick, Shannon and Dublin, among other locations.

Branding for the festival is by Richard Seabrooke, creative director of Dublin-based consultancy Dynamo.

Seabrooke, who is also creator of Candy, the electronic showcase for Ireland’s best creative work, designed the identity for this year’s show following his work on last year’s branding.

The Design Week Committee has appointed Kieran Corcoran of Dublin Institute of Technology as chairperson following his previous involvement in the Galway Arts Festival.

The Festival takes place between 5 and 11 November and listings will be posted on a festival site at www.designweek.ie
