Rich leaves design for top enterprise role

Harry Rich, Design Council deputy chief executive, is to leave the strategic body after eight years.

Rich is moving to take up the post of chief executive of Enterprise Insight, the organisation behind the Make Your Mark campaign. He will take up his new role in mid-October.

The Design Council says it has not yet made a decision on whether Rich will be replaced. ‘We’re looking at the skills and qualities needed to deliver our strategy and will appoint in light of these,’ says a spokeswoman.

The Make Your Mark initiative is a national campaign to create an enterprise culture in the UK. It was founded by four UK business membership organisations – the British Chambers of Commerce, the Confederation of British Industry, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors.

In March 1999, Rich was appointed director of business at the Design Council. In 2004, he became deputy chief executive.
