Starfish designs footballer’s biography

Hampshire design group Starfish has created the artwork for the forthcoming autobiography of Portsmouth Football Club star – and dedicated Christian – Linvoy Primus.

Starfish was responsible for every aspect of the launch, including photography, dust jacket, press advertisements and marketing literature. The book, due out later this month, is entitled Transformed: Football, Faith and Me, and is published by Legendary Publishing.

Jo Scrivener, director of Starfish, says the challenge was to convey the uplifting theme of the book and steer away from the serious black-and-white, close-up photography that dominates similar titles.

‘This is quite different from other footballers’ stories,’ she explains. ‘Primus is very much a happy man and it’s a spiritual, uplifting tale. The design had to reflect this with a joyous-looking cover and a smiley shot of Linvoy.’

Scrivener adds, ‘We also had to make it sellable by trying to convey as much of his personality and his inspirational commitment to charitable causes.’
