Droog seeks volunteers for Sagmeister event

Dutch design group Droog is to host a project by graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister – and it is looking for volunteers.

As part of its Droog Event 2: Urban Play exhibition, Droog is collaborating with Sagmeister’s design team.

Volunteers are now being sought to help create a text-based installation of 300 000 eurocent pieces, to be displayed along the banks of the IJ River in Amsterdam. The team will create a 40x20m text field in four shades of copper.

Sagmeister is well known for his work on album covers, which include Lou Reed, Rolling Stones and Talking Heads sleeves. More recently, he has been involved with the MUPI-project, a graphic poster-based display, and Sweatshop, a T-shirt-based installation, at graphic design festival Breda.

The exhibition is part of the bigger ExperimentaDesign Amsterdam 2008 show, which is a new biennial event, hosting exhibitions, lectures and projects in public spaces.

The Sagmeister installation will be created between 14-20 September.
