Eurobest to appoint design jury

The organisers of European advertising awards scheme Eurobest is to appoint a design judging panel, led by Team Creatif France chief executive Sylvia Vitale Rotta.

The first ever Eurobest design jury will comprise a cross-section of ten multi-disciplinary European judges, and will be led by Team Creatif France chief executive Sylvia Vitale Rotta.

Judges from the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Russia will be appointed in the coming months, says a Eurobest spokeswoman.

The move follows on from the organisers’ decision to incorporate design and branding into this year’s scheme for the first time.

Organised by the International Advertising Festival – the team behind Cannes Lions and the Dubai International Advertising Festival – in conjunction with the Swedish Advertising Association, this year’s scheme is seeking to recognise the importance of packaging design, brand identity and environmental design within a broader communications mix.

‘When we launched design at Cannes it was the right time to do it. It’s all about recognising design as part of creativity, as an integral part of advertising and marketing a product, so it’s only right to have it as a category. Design is part of communicating a brand and product, and those entries will be judged on creativity, originality, execution and consumer engagement,’ says a Eurobest spokeswoman.

Eurobest, now in its 21st year, will be a three-day festival, from 1-3 December, instead of the traditional one-evening event.
