The iconic Grolsch ‘swingtop’ bottle has undergone a subtle evolution, in its fourth redesign since 1897.
The Dutch lager brand’s in-house design team says it was keen to maintain the bottle’s distinctive swingtop, but has added retro grip strips and a new slimmer shape.
The iconic green bottle has also been accepted into the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising in London.
Laura Burgoyne, senior brand manager for Grolsch in the UK, calls the bottle a ‘modern classic’, and says that it was crucial to maintain the integrity of the 111-year-old brand.
The new-look Grolsch bottle will be rolled out across bars, restaurants, clubs and off-licenses from the end of this month.
