European Hotel Design Awards shortlist announced

David Collins Studio and Rare Architecture are among the shortlisted groups competing in the 2010 European Hotel Design Awards.

Rare Architecture is nominated in the café, bar, nightclub and lounge category for its work on Viajante Bar at Town Hall Hotel & Apartments in London’s Shoreditch. It is up against Nini Andrade Silva Atelier’s work for Theater Hotel in Porto City in Portugal, among others.

David Collins Studio is competing against MKV Design and Harrison Sutton Partnership in the lobby and public areas category. These consultancies worked on the Lime Wood Hotel in Hampshire, The Romanos in Greece and The Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall respectively.

The award for best spa, health and leisure facilities is being contested by Fox Linton for its work on The Dorchester Hotel Spa, Harrison Sutton for its work on The Scarlet Hotel and Sparc Studio for So Spa at Sofitel London St James.

Rare Architecture and MKV are competing for the best suite award for their work on De Montfort Suite at Town Hall Hotel & Apartments and The Romanos in Greece respectively.

The European Hotel Design Awards will be announced on 23 November at a ceremony at The Sleep Event, at the Business Design Centre in London.

Also taking place at The Sleep Event, which showcases hotel design, is Sleepotel, which will see 16 designers and manufacturers – among them MKV and Nini Andrade Silva Atelier – create room sets.
