Key industry figures attempt to define design

Leading industry figures will offer their definition of design in tomorrow’s issue of Design Week.

The definitions are part of a Design Week campaign to gain greater recognition for design among people at large as well as Government agencies, clients and other stakeholders.

The campaign comes at a time when the industry faces upheaval due to the Government freeze on ‘non-essential’ marketing spend, the review of the Design Council, and other pressures.

Leading figures including Rodney Fitch, Sebastian Conran, Neville Brody and Alice Rawsthorn offer their thoughts on the definition of design, while Nick Sunderland, creative strategy director at Heavenly, discusses his attempts to find a definition of design in an Insight piece.
