Design consultancy Tata Elxsi, which has around 3500 staff and studios around the world, is part of the £40 billion Tata Group.

Talbot left Seymour Powell last month in order to take up the new position, which will be based in Tata Elxsi’s Bangalore headquarters.

Tata Elxsi says Talbot’s new role will see him taking on responsibility for all design initiatives in the industrial design division across the world. This will include innovation-driven initiatives, product creation and IP creation.

Talbot says, ‘Tata Group is one of the most respectable organisations in the world and I feel very proud to be associated with Tata Elxsi. India is an emerging market for global design, has a tremendous talent pool and potential both for innovation and growth.’

Anil N Sondur, vice president of Tata Elxsi Industrual Design, says, ‘We are confident that with the global design experience [Talbot] brings, we can add substantial value to our customers’ brands and products.’

Good luck with the move Nick – I am sure you will do well. I remember seeing your head banging moment in India when gathering research for design that new ‘scooter’ for SP (Designing Dream machines) – still one of the best video clips I show my design students now.
