The Greatest Show on Earth
Ladies and gentlemen! Roll up; roll up – for the Greatest Show on Earth is coming to town.
Illustration collective The Drawn Chorus has been busy clowning about to create a series of weird and wonderful illustrations inspired bycircuses, freak shows and fairs in literature for their forthcoming exhibition, boldly entitled The Greatest Show on Earth.
Drawn Chorus is a group of 24 illustrators who create prints, zines and crafts who appear to frequently be seduced by Victorian-era literary curiosities: their most recent show was a series of illustrative reimaginings of images from the life and work of Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll.
For TheGreatest Show on Earth, as well as selling illustrations, art and ‘other curiosities’, the group is also using the space to form a circus-style immersive environment complete with costumes and ‘themed food’…
As is perhaps to be expected, the images have a decorative, yet rather surreal bent.
There’s the busty trapeze artist:

The Greatest Show on Earth runs from 18 – 23 September at The Gallery on the Corner, 155 Battersea Park Road, London SW8
