Cut & Paste: 21st Century Collage

In recent years collage has ripped and torn its way into our consciousness in both commercial work and art.

A new Laurence King book Cut & Paste: 21st Century Collage finds collage to be at the ‘cutting edge’ of visual design.

Collage has come to be a tool and a specialism for many artists, illustrators and graphic designers.

Indeed collages have been popping up in ads – particularly fashion campaigns – in magazine commissions, and album art, as well as on-line and as animations.

As you would hope Cut & Paste is chock-full of images, some 250 to be precise, and profiles more than 40 contemporary collage artists.

It is designed by Masumi Briozzo and has been written by Richard Brereton with Caroline Roberts.

In a foreword Brereton says that collage, ‘connects the past with the present, sometimes offering a glimpse of what may be the future’.

Cut & Paste: 21st Century Collage is published in September by Laurence King, priced £12.95
