Music Workshops

Manchester consultancy Music is taking a rather nice and aptly creative approach to recruiting interns.

The Music Workshops programme invites students and graduates to take part in a two-day workshops, meeting the Music staff and working together, coming away with a piece of work to be exhibited in a one-day show this weekend.

Jon Bland, designer at Music, says, ’After taking over the internship programme at Music, I felt like the usual process of asking students to travel from all over for a 20-minute chat wasn’t the best way to do things, from either party’s point of view.

‘The workshops give us a chance to get to know the graduates / students and they come away with a decent insight into Music, as well as portfolio piece.’

The workshops are run by Bland and another designer at Music, Dan Lancaster.

The work created at this week’s workshop will be on show at the APART exhibition, showing the work of six artists created in response to a story written by copywriter (And ex-Music intern) Louie Zeegen. The story was written specifically for the workshop, and each participant has responded to a different section of the text.

‘The work will take the viewer on a visual journey through the tale of one mans inner thoughts of love, loss and desperation’, according to Music.

APART takes place on 10 August at Terrace Bar, 43 Thomas St, Manchester, M4 1NA
