Edinburgh store for Brooks Brothers

US fashion retailer Brooks Brothers has this week thrown open the doors to a flagship store in Edinburgh, marking its first step outside London, with a fresh concept design by RPA Vision.

Brooks Brothers specialises in business suits for men and women, as well as the smart/casual Ivy League-style with which the company is renowned.

The new store on Edinburgh’s George Street mixes the Brooks Brothers’ brand heritage with the Georgian architecture of the building.

According to Nigel Collett, design director of RPA Vision, the look and feel of the store is a ‘clever fusion of American classic clothes store and the traditional gentlemen’s outfitter.

‘The interior of the Edinburgh store, with its dark wood panelling, antique crystal chandeliers and an assortment of antique furniture draws heavily on the heritage of the brand and works sympathetically with a listed building,’ adds Collett.

With London shops in Regent Street and Old Broad Street, the Brooks Brothers brand is planning to invest £15m in developing the UK market over the next five years. Further stores are planned in a number of cities, with flagship outlets tipped for Manchester, Dublin, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds and Cardiff.

‘An atmosphere to reflect the refined tastes of the Brooks Brothers shopper was the goal and RPA has delivered, cleverly mixing America with the UK and the past with the present,’ says managing director of Brooks Brothers John Hind.
