HTC takes over US consultancy

Global product manufacturer HTC Corporation has acquired San Francisco design consultancy One & Co.

The creator of Touch Phone, PDA Phone, Smartphone and Mobile Computer has taken over One & Co to ‘continue its design focus’.

One & Co, which has collaborated with HTC since 2006, initially on the HTC Touch Diamond, will maintain its name and client base.

The two design teams – dotted across the US and Taiwan – will merge under the leadership of HTC chief innovation officer Horace Luke, though One & Co will continue to be steered by its founders, including partner Scott Croyle, according to an HTC spokeswoman.

One & Co, which has also worked across footwear, packaging and furniture design projects, will bring a ‘lifestyle, user-focused approach to HTC’, according to Luke.

There is a possibility that, working as a merged design team, HTC will support One & Co’s client base, in a ‘cross pollination’.

There is no conflict of interest in terms of clients, says the spokeswoman.
