The consultancy was appointed in the summer after being selected ahead of a number of other groups, according to Rob Barnes, sales and operations director at Design UK.
Rail Europe says it wants to increase its market share across Europe, and demonstrate rail travel as a viable, Greener alternative to air travel.
It says Design UK’s work will therefore focus on directing travellers to comprehensive information about both the trains and their destinations, in order to help people plan their trips and buy tickets.
Design UK is also working on a search strategy to direct customers to the website.
Leigh Whitney, managing director of Design UK, says, ‘This [project] represents an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate that putting the journey of the visitor first makes for an excellent customer experience, and more importantly that it drives conversion rates – in this instance, increasing European rail travel.’
