Packard Bell to release ‘butterfly’ notebook

Packard Bell has unveiled a new touchscreen notebook with a rotating screen which it claims has ‘the grace and beauty of a butterfly’.

The EasyNote Butterfly Touch Edition features a 180º rotating screen, which uses ‘auto-rotation’ to adjust image orientation vertically or horizontally, allowing the device to be viewed as an e-book, photo or video frame.

A full-sized keyboard fits into the device, which has a 1366×768 dpi screen resolution and weighs less than 1.6kg.

Packard Bell says the notebook is ‘designed for style-conscious consumers’, and is available in cherry red or ‘NightSky’ black colours. A glossy cover is intended to reference ‘the iridescence of butterfly wings’.

Ergonomic features will include a dotted texture palm rest and a ‘multigesture touchpad’, which offers scroll and zoom facilities.

An eight-hour battery time is promised when the new laptop is unveiled in February, priced £499.
