Rufus Leonard creates British Gas iPhone app

British Gas has launched an iPhone meter reading app, designed by Rufus Leonard and developed by an in-house team.

The app aims to put customers in control of their energy bills by allowing them to submit a meter reading via the iPhone.

This will hopefully eliminate estimated bills, as customers can now upload their meter readings via the app.

Rufus Leonard was appointed as lead digital consultancy by British Gas in May this year.

A Rufus Leonard spokeswoman says, ‘We’ve worked on three major projects so far, and they’ve all been about making it easier for the consumer. British Gas really wanted to invest in digital.’

A British Gas spokesman adds, ‘This is not just estimates, but real, accurate bills. Accurate bills mean handing control back to the customers. [Rufus Leonard] has always been a bit provocative. It always pushes us.’

Unbelievably bad setup process. “Invalid information” error …, preventing submission of new account, without ANY explanation of why this is, makes the experience miserable. WHY do developers miss such a basic ??!!!!

It works for me. Maybe it only works if you manage your account online already like I do.
