Zulver & Co brands architect Austin-Smith Lord

Zulver & Co has designed a new brand identity for architect Austin-Smith Lord.

The consultancy was appointed following a three-way paid creative pitch in November 2008.

Andrew Zulver, design director of Zulver & Co, says, ‘During the pitching process I think they knew that we really understood them.’

A full strategic review of the practice was carried out before work began on updating and crafting a new logotype and visual language.

This developed into a series of opposite pairings, such as imaginative/grounded and challenging/respectful, which the consultancy says reflects the architect’s broad range of skills.

The logotype, pairings and new colour palette are being implemented across stationery, templates, signage, marketing collateral and website, which goes live today.

Zulver & Co is currently working on a book celebrating Austin-Smith Lord’s 60 years of practice. The book is due for release next year.

Is it only me or is anyone else familiar with the identity and self promotional work of the Partners?

Another funny Austin-Smith:Lord story Trickett & Webb designed their identity 30 years ago. The original partners were Mike and Inette Austin-Smith and Peter Lord and we could never remember where to put the hyphen. They became know in the office as austinhyphensmithcolonlord. When it came to doing their identity we made the hyphen and the colon as big as possible. It stuck.
