Has Mandeville wet himself? Is gender bending ok for brands?* Do we want to be delighted by a cash machine?
No, the Design Week office hasn’t overindulged on the sherry just yet. This bizarre line of questioning arrives courtesy of Jones Knowles Ritchie design consultancy, whose anthology The Blue Lady’s New Look and Other Curiosities will hopefully answer these, and other, pressing uncertainties.
Following on from last year’s ‘Is Brad Pitt a Fishfinger?’ (the DW office, is, by the way, as yet undecided on this one), the anthology brings together the JKR Design Gazette Anthology from the last year, giving us an insight into the world of branding, marketing trends and design.
Alongside an essay which ‘endeavours to discuss our post-modern design era without getting too intellectual’, the pages of the neat little tome are packed with illustrations ranging from birds, to Public Image Ltd albums, to cigarette packaging. Something for everyone, then.
