Airstream creates interiors for Qatar bank

Airstream Design has designed an interior concept for the QNB bank in Doha, which will open in the residential and shopping development Pearl.

Appointed in the summer following a concept presentation, consultancy design director Michelle Le Masurier says Airstream was asked to consider the high-end context and location of the development and design a space which would be ‘luxurious and push boundaries’.

Using the 6m-high ceilings, a free-standing mezzanine island will be introduced comprising interconnected angular forms.

A conference room is ‘cantilevered’ over the reception desk says Le Masurier, who says the other mezzanine areas comprise a first-floor VIP lounge and offices, supported by a sculptural feature staircase.

Bronze finishing, marble flooring and timber have been used throughout the space. Wall panelling will be introduced and a veneered textured effect applied to columns. Chain-mail screens are to be hung and etched glass designs introduced.
