Bespoke bubbles
‘Tis the season to be jolly, and usually pretty drunk too. So it was with great interest when we heard that Dutch communications consultancy They had a new collection of packaging for their own brand champagne Zarb.
For the new collection, called Deep Black: The Underwater Exploration, the consultancy has worked with deep sea photographer David Shale, underwater photographer Zena Holloway and costume designer Vin Burnham to create the packaging.
One bottle features images from 5 000m under the sea taken by Shale, another features angelic mermaids captured by Holloway, who has worked for the likes of Vogue and Nike. Burham, who has collaborated with Holloway on the packaging, was responsible for Lady Gaga’s ‘living dress’ and has worked on numerous film productions including Batman Returns.
During the collection’s launch at a pop-up shop in Amsterdam, the bottles were delivered to guests from a nearby canal by an underwater diver.
These outlandish special editions of the champagne bottles have been created by designers Cedric Laquieze and La Bolleur. With such exciting packaging, let’s hope the contents are up to the job.
Reminiscent of the extremely vulgar SWAROVSKI limited edition bottled water at £320 per bottle – pretty images but it seems some people have more money than sense
it was always thus – sigh
Tis the season to be bubbly. Beautiful photography.
Regardless of the social enquiries, it is some of the best design work I’ve seen this year. British agencies should take note of pan-European artistry.
