DBA launches packaging design course

The Design Business Association has launched a new packaging course, which will begin in February 2011.

The five-day course is aimed at those working in the design, pre-press, packaging, retail and branded goods industries and aims to enable students to solve design issues relating to the technical and aesthetic performance, cost, safety and legality of packaging materials and processes.

The course, which has been developed by the DBA and The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, will consist of five parts: the fundamental principles of packaging, its environmental aspects, packaging development, materials and artwork, design and printing processes.

The 60-hour course will comprise a mixture of contact time and additional reading, research and investigation.

On completion of the course, students will be able to progress to the diploma on packaging technology and other higher-level qualifications.
