The Boxpark pop-up mall is made up of shipping containers, from where Nike operates its Nike+ Fuelstation space – touted by the company as ‘the future of Nike retail’ – and NikeiD Studio, which is found on the upper floor and comprises four containers.
The Art & Sole Cortez iD project, as it is verbosely known, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Nike’s Cortez running shoe, and so Art & Sole has courted the services of Jiro Bevis and Shantell Martin, who with Nicholson and Stallard have looked to interpret the Cortez through the mediums of print, moving image, sculpture and sneaker art.
Each artist was assigned a colour to work in and their design has been set as a mini edition Art & Soul book cover, packaged with the trainer in the same colour.
Illustrator Bevis worked in red, 3D paper-craft artist Nicholson worked in magenta, visual artist Martin in Green, and image maker Stallard in Blue.
Boxpark is located at 2-4 Bethnal Green Road, London E1
